With the implementation of Right to Service Act, applicants in Dehradun will now get their family cards (ration cards) within 10 days of filing application. Soon after the law was enforced, 3000 new ration cards were in issued in the state capital. In Dehradun, the renewal work for ration cards was started in 2009 but in July 2011 it got stuck due to shortage of ration cards. In November 2011, fresh stock of 50,000 new ration cards was received and the facility was started again. Till date, nearly 3.5 lakh ration cards have been renewed in Dehradun under APL category.
According to DSO Dr. Mahendra Singh Bisen, the Right to Service Act has been imposed and the applicants will be issued new ration cards within 10 days of their applications. This has been done for the benefit of general public to expedite the old process. He added that all complaints in this regard can be addressed to him directly.
The new procedure for Ration Card-
• Take a free application form for new Ration Card from District Supply Office, Dehradun.
• Submit the filled form along with 3 passport size photographs, Address proof, Old ration card cancellation proof (if applicable), Affidavit on a Rs. 10 stamp paper (only for first time applicants).
• With RTS Act in force, applicant will receive a new ration card within 10 days of his application.
• If the ration card is not received within the stipulated time, applicants can directly lodge a complaint with the DSO.
